Endurance Quest – TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. General conditions. (Updated 20.3.2025)

1.1. Endurance Quest course is an ARWS European Series race (www.arworldseries.com). Endurance Quest is a sports competition which the rules are set in accordance with ARWS standards – ARWS Rules of Competition - version 1.8 of 24.01.2024 ( https://arworldseries.com/about/resources )
1.2. The legal organizer is Northern Adventure ry & Adventure racing world series Inc & Hollo Group oy
 
2. Terms of participation.

2.1. The main condition of participation is accepting these Terms and Conditions.
2.2. Only adults (over 18 years old) may participate in the competition. Under 18 yeasr old can participate with permission from their legal guardian, in this cases guardian has to be presented during race weekend. 
2.3. Participation in the competition is voluntary. Participants are aware that the competition takes place in a difficult, mountain terrain where the probability of suffering injuries, injuries, accidents etc. is high. Participants are required to call the emergency services themselves, if needed. Participants start on their own risk. In no case will they have any claims or seek compensation from the organizer.
2.4. Only 4-person mixed teams can participate in the competition in ARWS category. Male & Female teams has own categories.
2.5. If team quits due to motivation race organization is not responsible to get team out from the course, team has to do this with their own cost. If team is quit due the medical reasons then race organizations will take care of this. 
2.6. Any potential tax consequences with the prizes are the responsibility of the prize recipients & winning teams.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

 understand and acknowledge that participating in this event is an activity with risk involved. I am aware of and understand the activities I will be involved in. I am aware of the hazards involved and acknowledge that there is always risk of injury (including permanent injury, mental injury, paralysis and death). In my judgment I have sufficient competence, knowledge, common sense, experience, survival skills and equipment to participate in all the event activities in a manner safe to myself and others. I understand and agree that, in the first instance, I am responsible for the provision of first aid to myself and those around me, I know and accept that rescue by the organizers, or emergency services, may not be possible immediately and it might take hours to be transported out of the course (e.g.: Night, rain, equipment failure or another rescue etc.) If I get to a point in the course where I believe the level of inherent risk is unacceptable for me, and I am not confident in completing it safely, it is my responsibility to take action. I must choose an alternate route,avoid the hazard, or even withdraw from that leg or the race. I understand and acknowledge that I will be traversing nature conservation areas with dangerous animals and that it is my responsibility to avoid these animals. I accept this self-responsibility. Race Organizers DOESN’T have insurance for the racers, every racer races with their own risk & insurance.

The following is an addition/clarification of the ARWS Rules of Competition 1.6.2 applying to Endurance Quest 2025.
 
Rules of Competition 1.6.2
1.Pre-Race: Teams must comply with any registration procedures, equipment and competency checks and attend all compulsory meetings and functions as scheduled by the Race Organiser.
2. Equipment: Teams and athletes must carry mandatory equipment as described in the AR World Series Mandatory Equipment List, as well as any race specific items directed by the Race Organiser.
3. Race Course: Teams must complete the race course as directed in the course book and maps, through race control points (CPs) and transition areas (TAs), by the racing discipline specified, using the maps provided by the Race Organiser. The first team to complete the event, having complied with allrules, and any penalties taken into consideration, will be considered the winning team.
4. Team: Teams must travel and complete the course together max 100 meters from each other, without substitution, and with team members being close enough to see and communicate verbally with each other at all times.
5. Support/ Assistance: Teams may not receive unauthorized race related assistance during the race.
6. Emergencies, Medical and Communications: Any team, who encounters a medical emergency, be it in their own team or another team, or external to the event, must stop to render assistance.
7. Environment: Teams must treat the environment and landscape of the course with respect and leave minimal evidence of their racing.
8. Conduct: Athletes must conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times, without cheating, abusive behavior, bad language or violence.
9. Banned Substances: Athletes may not use banned substances or methods as specified in the World Anti-Doping Code.
11. Adjudication: Adjudication of these rules is the responsibility of the Race Referee if designated, the Race Director and the Race Jury. Any formal protest by a team must be submitted inwriting as soon as possible, and not later than 1 hours prior to the scheduled time of the final presentation/awards ceremony.
12. Race Specific Rules: Each race may have specific rules for that race only. Where there is a conflict of rules, the ARWS rules will take precedence. AR World Series - Rules of See ARWS website for a copy of the rules.
13. If canoe or kayak gear gets damaged or disappears during the race, the team has to refund the loss or damage

Generally speaking, T&C often address these types of issues: Who is allowed to use the website; the possible payment methods; a declaration that the website owner may change his or her offering in the future; the types of warranties the website owner gives his or her customers; a reference to issues of intellectual property or copyrights, where relevant; the website owner’s right to suspend or cancel a member’s account; and much much more.
